The Municipal District of Wainwright monitors TRAVIS for any new applications for road permits. Please contact your own permitting service and they will forward them to the TRAVIS system.
What is TRAVIS?
The province of Alberta has implemented a web based Transportation Routing and Vehicle Information System (TRAVIS) to allow industry to apply for all required transportation permits. These permits are primarily for overweight and over size loads moving in Alberta.
In 2011, TRAVIS entered into a new phase of operation that provides a “one window” application for industry to move on Provincial and Municipal roadways.
TRAVIS provides industry users a true “one window” application process to request approval to move on Provincial Highways and Municipal Roadways anywhere in Alberta. Each individual municipality still reviews and approves movement in their jurisdiction and the TRAVIS system is the method these approvals will be requested. Vehicles will not be allowed to move in the municipality without this approval being granted.
The TRAVIS system is designed to assist municipalities in assessing applications for the movement of oversize vehicles. TRAVIS automatically checks the suitability of oversize vehicle travel on municipal roads, based on the data and rules provided by the municipality. If the information on the application matches the municipal business rules, the system will be able to provide automatic municipal approval. Where the vehicle weights or dimensions exceed any limits stipulated by the M.D. of Wainwright, or if there is a routing issue, the move will be denied automatic approval. The applicant can revise the application or ask for it to be forwarded to the municipality for manual review.
