Due to conditions, the M.D. of Wainwright has implemented a Fire Restriction effective as of Wednesday May 6, 2026 until further notice. The M.D. will issue no new Fire Permits, and all existing permits are herby rescinded within Municipal boundaries including the Hamlets of Jarrow, Fabyan, Greenshields and Ribstone.

Natural Gas/Propane Appliances

Charcoal Briquettes

Open Flame Oil Devices (ie: deep fryer or tiki torch)

Acceptable and Attended Burning Barrels

New or Existing Fire Permits

Fireworks/Exploding Targets

Unattended Fires

On March 30 it was announced that the PMRA approved an Emergency Use Approval for 2% liquid strychnine for specific areas in Alberta and Saskatchewan under specific conditions. This approval will expire in November of 2027.
