The M.D. of Wainwright is pleased to once again offer an evening of socializing, food and entertainment to celebrate agriculture and the rural community within our municipality. M.D. of Wainwright ratepayers are invited to supper followed by the entertainment of Over The Moon.

Please be advised that product supply is expected to be extremely limited and prolonged delays for delivery are anticipated.
Product will not be available for purchase during the first application window (March 1 – June 15th). Availability will be reassessed prior to the second application window opening July 15th.
We appreciate the proactive steps taken by local producers to be prepared to participate in the strychnine rollout, and the patience as we await further information on product availability and distribution.
Producers are strongly advised not to rely on strychnine being available this season, and to utilize alternative methods. We know this is frustrating and disappointing news.

Due to conditions, the M.D. of Wainwright has implemented a Fire Restriction effective as of Wednesday May 6, 2026 until further notice. The M.D. will issue no new Fire Permits, and all existing permits are herby rescinded within Municipal boundaries including the Hamlets of Jarrow, Fabyan, Greenshields and Ribstone.

On March 30 it was announced that the PMRA approved an Emergency Use Approval for 2% liquid strychnine for specific areas in Alberta and Saskatchewan under specific conditions. This approval will expire in November of 2027.
