Update on the Strychnine Emergency Use Approval

On March 30 it was announced that the PMRA approved an Emergency Use Approval for 2% liquid strychnine for specific areas in Alberta and Saskatchewan under specific conditions. This approval will expire in November of 2027.

Youth Community Impact Award – Accepting Nominations
The Youth Community Impact Award is an opportunity to recognize deserving youth (12-18 years of age) for the amazing ways they choose to give back to their rural community. This non-academic award has been designed to shine a light on youth who exemplify selflessness and dedication to helping others. Whether or not in a leadership
role, the nominee shows their commitment to bettering their community through volunteerism, mentorship or peer support, or taking the initiative in starting new projects or programs.
Fenceline Spray Program – Accepting Applications
If a landowner or grazing lease holder within the M.D. of Wainwright wants the fenceline they own adjacent to developed Municipal right-of-way’s sprayed as part of the regular vegetation management program, they must complete a Fenceline Spraying Agreement.
No Spray Program – Accepting Applications

If a landowner within the M.D. of Wainwright does not want the Municipal right-of-way’s adjacent to property they own sprayed as part of the regular vegetation management program, they must complete a No Spray Agreement on an annual basis.

Predator Reduction Incentive Program (PRIP) – Open for Intakes

The M.D. of Wainwright has introduced a Predator Reduction Incentive Program for the purpose of managing the impact of predator species – coyotes and wolves – on livestock and wildlife populations within our jurisdiction.
Interested participants are advised to review and understand all information pertaining to the program (below) prior to participating to ensure they meet eligibility requirements. Be advised that failure to comply with the terms and conditions of the program will result in disqualification.

Riverdale 2026 Booking Dates
Camping season is coming fast. The 2026 Riverdale booking dates are:
April 27, 2026 – Seasonal & Monthly
April 28, 2026 – Seasonal, Monthly & Weekly
April 29 – April 30, 2026 – All Bookings
In person bookings take priority, booking can be made by phone (780-842-2996) but all sites are on a first come first serve basis. Bookings cannot be made by email.

Here’s a list of items that should not be placed in any municipal bin or transfer station, or dumped at the landfill. For the safety of yourself and others, please dispose of these items during the annual Hazardous Material Round Up.
