2025 Road Construction Season
Construction projects within the Municipal District of Wainwright are completed as per the M.D.’s Ten Year Road Construction Plan approved by Council. The use of private contractors for road construction may occur upon approval of Council. The number one priority according to the M.D. of Wainwright 10-Year Road Construction Plan shall dictate where the starting point of construction will be at the beginning of each year. Progression of construction will proceed according to the other priorities detailed in the plan. Council may change this if circumstances warrant doing so.
Employment Opprotunity – Gravel Truck Driver
The M.D. of Wainwright No. 61 is inviting applications for a Gravel Truck Operator. Duties include, but are not limited to graveling roads, equipment hauling, and snowplowing.
Qualifications:
- Minimum Class 1 Driver’s License
- Experience in any of the following is an asset:
- Driving tandem and/or tridem trucks
- Hauling/spreading gravel
- Hauling equipment
- Snowplowing

Employment Opprotunity – Communications Clerk
Communication Clerk
The M.D. of Wainwright No. 61 invites applications for the full-time Temporary position of Communications Clerk to begin approximately June 9th, 2025 and continue for approximately 12 months.
This position involves the performance of creating and editing of key documents, M.D. messaging, secretarial, clerical assignments and customer service requiring decisions based on Municipal Policy and Procedures. The work requires the ability and willingness to cooperate with other staff members and departments. A high degree of accuracy and following of instructions is instrumental in carrying out the position.
Qualifications:
- Excellent communication and public relation skills are essential;
- Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Office Administration or Communication;
- Experience in an office setting;
- Computer experience (Microsoft Office Suite or equivalent);
- Certificate in Local Government Administration would be an asset

This newly created award is an opportunity to recognize deserving youth (12-18 years of age) for the amazing ways they choose to give back to their rural community. This non-academic award has been designed to shine a light on youth who exemplify selflessness and dedication to helping others. Whether or not in a leadership role, the nominee shows their commitment to bettering their community through volunteerism, mentorship or peer support, or taking the initiative in starting new projects or programs.

New Fenceline Spray Program Open for Applications
If a landowner or grazing lease holder within the M.D. of Wainwright wants the fenceline they own adjacent to developed Municipal right-of-way’s sprayed as part of the regular vegetation management program, they must complete a Fenceline Spraying Agreement.
No Spray Program Open for Applications
If a landowner within the M.D. of Wainwright does not want the Municipal right-of-way’s adjacent to property they own sprayed as part of the regular vegetation management program, they must complete a No Spray Agreement on an annual basis. Agreements are due no later than May 1st, and will be honored for a period of one year only.
