Jon has continued building on previous DEMs work to keep the M.D. trained and skilled on handling any situation that may arise with in the M.D.&#8217;s borders.<\/p>\n<p>By definition, emergencies happen when we don\u2019t expect them, and often when families are not together. Suddenly, you need to think about your kids at school or elderly parents across town. If phones don\u2019t work, or some neighbourhoods aren\u2019t accessible, what will you do?<\/p>\n<p>The best way to help ensure your family\u2019s safety in these situations is to have an emergency plan. Having a plan, and discussing it with loved ones, will save time and make real situations less stressful.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alberta specific information can be found at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.alberta.ca\/emergency-preparedness.aspx\">www.alberta.ca\/emergency-preparedness.aspx<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<ul style=\"list-style-type: disc;\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alberta.ca\/build-an-emergency-kit.aspx\">Alberta.ca\/GetSupplies<\/a> \u2013 printable brochures and checklists for individuals, households, as well as pets, farm animals and vehicles.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alberta.ca\/raise-awareness-in-your-community.aspx\">Alberta.ca\/CommunityPrep<\/a> \u2013 a one stop shop for all public education materials including a library of videos.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.alberta.ca\/emergency-preparedness-week.aspx\">Alberta.ca\/EPWeek<\/a> \u2013 information about the EP Week campaign, held annually the first week of May.
