Municipal roadside, private lands and Western Area Training Centre (DND) spraying of noxious and restricted weeds. Primary focus is Scentless Chamomile, Toadflax, Leafy Spurge and Common Tansy

4. Agricultural Pesticide Chemical Container Collection Sites

Chemical Container Sites are located at:

-Chauvin Landfill
-Across from Agricore United in Edgerton
-East of Crop Tech Agro Southeast of Wainwright
-Municipal Yard in Irma

5. Cattle Scale Rental

The Cattle Scale can be booked and picked up at the Municipal Public Works Shop. A charge of $30 per day is billed to the user.

6. Skunk Trap Rental

Skunk traps can be picked up at the M.D. Public Works Shop for use of up to 2 weeks. If the trap is damaged or lost, the renter is billed for the full replacement cost.

7. Shelterbelt Tree Planter

The use of the tree planter comes at the request of ratepayers. Municipal staff will assist with planting. The landowner requesting the tree planter must supply a means of transport with a pin hitch for planting.

8. Beaver Dam Control

Removal of beaver dams impacting Municipal road allowances. The removal of beaver dams on private land is completed on a cost recovery basis. Beaver removal is the responsibility of the landowner.

9. Alberta Rat Control Program

Inspection and baiting of farms in the first three townships of the MD of Wainwright and 30 km East of the Saskatchewan border to prevent the establishment of rat infestations. To report a possible rat sighting, contact the Municipal Rat Control Officer at (780) 842-7285.

10. Fire Permits

Fire permits are required year-round in the MD of Wainwright. Permits are free of charge and can be obtained from the following individuals:

11. Bi-Annual Farm Family Award

Recognition of a local farm family for their agricultural and community involvement. Bi-annually, an application from Northlands Park is provided to 1 of 4 Agriculture Societies within the MD of Wainwright on a rotational basis to nominate a local farm family.

12. Vertebrate Pest Control

The Municipal Rat Control Officer provides assistance for predator problems. Coyote problems and skunks are managed by the Municipal Rat Control Officer.

13. Community Agricultural Tankloader Facilities

The Community Agricultural Tankloader Facilities were developed and constructed by the municipality for use by municipal ratepayers. A charge of $0.66 per cubic meter (or equivalent of a 1/4 cent per gallon) has been implemented for utility and maintenance requirements of the Tankloaders. A Community Agricultural Tankloader Agreement must completed prior to use and this agreement can be accessed through the M.D. of Wainwright Office. The water at all Tankloader locations is considered non-potable water.

Authorized usages include the following:

-Watering livestock
-Filling nurse tanks for crop spraying (No direct filling of sprayers allowed)
-Watering shelterbelts
-Watering gardens
-Fire protection
-Water may be used for domestic well drilling (special approval required)
-Municipal road constuction projects
-Dust control (special approval required)
